Amarex KRT with highly efficient submersible motors

With highly efficient IE3* submersible motors the pumps of the Amarex KRT® series are a true innovation on the market. KSB’s extremely energy-efficient motors can be integrated into pump stations as standard. The pump sets can be supplied with or without explosion protection

Amarex_KRT-EKSB’s in-house development work has enabled these pump sets to be mechanically and electrically optimised for the special requirements of waste water transport. The Amarex KRT motors’ electrical and magnetic design fulfils the requirements of the IE3* efficiency class up to a drive rating of 850 KW.

Design

Vertical, single-stage submersible motor pump in close-coupled design, various impeller types, for wet or dry installation, stationary and transportable version. Design to ATEX.

Applications

Handling of all types of abrasive or aggressive waste water in water and waste water engineering as well as industry, especially untreated sewage containing long fibres and solid substances, fluids containing gas / air, as well as raw, activated and digested sludge; sea water desalination.

 

Pump sets of installation types P and S

KSB-Amarek-KRT-Guide railare designed for continuously submerged operation. The motor is cooled by the fluid
handled on the motor surface. Operation with the motor outside the fluid handled is
possible for short periods.

Pump sets of installation type K

are suitable for continuous operation with the motor outside the fluid. Cooling is
effected by means of air convection.

Ebara-Booster-UN-FSAVariable speed drives are used since they can adjust the
motor’s power to fit specific needs, resulting in reduced
energy consumption and in increased savings.

2. Constant estimated terminal pressure control

The controller provides CETP (Constant estimated
Terminal Pressure) control that adjusts pump discharge
pressure in relation to pressure loss caused by pipe
resistance according to water flow. Thus, it can hold
down electric power consumption compared to constant
discharge pressure control with variable speed operation

 

3. Stable water supply

Pumps are in parallel operation for high demand and In
the event of pump/inverter fault, the controller

Grundfos NBF and NKF is an end-suction pump made for fire sprinkler pump applications.

Overview

Grundfos NBF is an end-suction pump made for fire sprinkler pump applications. NBF is a close-coupled type and NKF is a long-coupled type.

The NKF fire system is an NBF or NKF end-suction pump integrated with a coupling and a driver, which may be an electric motor or a diesel engine, assembled on a base frame.

Electric pump types can be ordered as a COMPACT model (inclusive of a controller integrated onto the baseframe).

Diesel-driven NKF. A controller always forms a part of the system.

Materials

The pump materials are in compliance with EN 12845 and prEN12259-12:

  • Impeller and wear rings are made of bronze
  • Wet parts such as shaft, washers and nuts are made of stainless steel
  • Castings are made of cast iron.

Controller

Grundfos-Fire system-3Grundfos offers a complete, factory-assembled controller in a steel plate cabinet, suitable for wall mounting or to install free-standing. The controller complies with the EN 12845 standard. The controller for diesel-powered pumps is always mounted on the base frame.

 

 

Electric motor

Grundfos-Fire system-2The electric motor is an MG or MMG motor complying with local standards for electric motors. As from 16 July 2011, the motors used in Europe will be IE2 = EFF 1 motors.

 

 

 

Diesel engine

Grundfos-Fire system-1The diesel engine can operate continuously at full load at site elevation with rated output in accordance with ISO 3046-1:1986. The pump reaches full operational speed within 15 seconds; the engine is capable of starting at a room temperature of 5 °C.

Each complete engine pump unit is tested on the manufacturer’s test bed for at least 1.5 hours at rated flow rate, and the result recorded on the test certificate.

CONTROL SYSTEM

Step 1) both pumps are stopped when water tank is fully charged. In
this condition water is supplied from the pressure tank and
water pressure in tank gradually decreases.
Step 2) No. 1 pump start at pressure P1 (point 1) and water supplied
from pump and pressure tank.
Step 3) When more water is required and water pressure decreases to
P2 (point 2), no. 2 pump also starts, operation point shifts to
point 3 and system shifts to parallel operation.
Step 4) When water consumption decreases, water pressure in tank
increase and when pressure reaches P3 (point 4) no. 2 pump
is stopped and operation point shifts to point 5.
Step 5) when water consumption further decreases, water pressure in
tank increases and pressure switch is turned off and the flow
switch used to detect small flow is turned off. When both
pressure and flow switch are off, no. 1 pump stops (point 6).
Flow switch setting point is at small capacity point; therefore
pump continuous operation range is much wider. Accordingly
pump start frequency is greatly decreased
