Grundfos-sq-sqeThe Grundfos SQ 3″ submersible pumps offer a wide performance range, making it easy to find a model that will suit your individual requirements.

The Grundfos SQ is a compact, 3″ multistage centrifugal pump that can be installed in a borehole no larger than the pump itself. With their built-in electronics, SQ pumps are very easy to install and operate. They guarantee a reliable water supply at all times.

Equipped with permanent magnet motors, these flexible and compact pumps offer excellent efficiency levels and will supply pump heads up to 200 m.

If the SQ pump is connected to the Grundfos CU 301 control box, it enables the creation of a constant pressure water supply.

Description/design

Submersible-motor pump for vertical or horizontal installation.

 

Hydraulics

Multistage submersible-motor pump with radial hydraulics. Housing parts made of NiAl‐Bz, impellers made of Noryl. Pressure connection as threaded connection, with integrated non-return valve.

 

Motor

Three-phase motor for direct and star-delta start Sealed, hermetically cast motor with enamel-insulated winding, resin-impregnated (NU 4…, NU 5…) or rewindable motor with PVC‐insulated winding (NU 611). Motor shroud made of stainless steel, A2/A4 quality.

Pump connection as standard NEMA connection. Sealing of motor shaft achieved through the use of a rotary shaft seal (NU 4…) or mechanical seal made of solid silicon carbide material.

Self-lubricating motor bearing. Motors in the NU 4…- and NU 5… series are filled with a water‐glycol mixture, motors in the NU 611 series are filled with a water-glycerine mixture. Alternatively, NU 611… series motors can be filled with potable water (T‐version). Frequency converter operation is permitted (SF 1.1).

 

Cooling

The motor is cooled by the fluid. The motor must always be operated in submerged state. The limit values for the max. fluid temperature and the minimum flow rate must not be exceeded. Vertical installation is possible optionally with or without cooling jacket. For horizontal installation, bearing brackets must be used for reinforcement of the unit. A cooling jacket may be used to improve the inlet flow.

 

Pressure shroud

The pressure shroud is used for direct installation of the unit in the pipe system. Standard models are without mounted non-return valves. The maximum inlet pressure is 10 bar.

Grundfos-Hydro Multi-S-Booster System

 

 

Overview

Grundfos-Hydro-Multi-SGrundfos Hydro Multi-S booster sets consist of two or three identical Grundfos CM, CMV or CR pumps, connected in parallel and mounted on a common base frame, and a control cabinet with motor protection and integrated controller.
Hydro Multi-S booster sets are supplied as complete, pre-assembled and tested systems including suction and discharge manifolds, isolating valves, non-return valves, pressure gauge and pressure switches. To ensure reliable operation, the booster set must be fitted with a suitable diaphragm tank. The pumps are automatically operated according to system demand by means of pressure switches (one for each pump).

Commissioning

This product can be installed as part of a large-scale solution in which a number of Grundfos products operate together. In order to achieve optimum performance, it is very important that the system is set up and adjusted correctly from the outset. The knowledge and experience of the Grundfos service technician, and the use of dedicated Grundfos service tools to adjust the performance of the pump, together guarantee that the greatest possible efficiency and fully correct operation of the equipment are both achieved. Commissioning is recommended in the following circumstances:

  • If two or more Grundfos products operate together in a system, e.g. in booster or wastewater systems
  • If the pumps are installed in a large system, e.g. in a building management system
  • If the user wants to be trained in the proper operation of the pumps/system
  • Where the setup is crucial for the Grundfos product to operate for its full planned life, e.g. in water treatment applications. In such cases commissioning is not only recommended but required
  • Where safety is an issue, e.g. in disinfection systems.

Recommended spare parts

Even though the Grundfos strategy is to supply the best possible pump solutions to our customers, after a long period of operation there will be wear and tear to some of the components in certain situations. If short operating downtime is a requirement, or if the pump is installed in inaccessible areas where delivery of spare parts may take a long time, it is advisable to maintain a small stock of recommended spare parts on site.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

The base of the group is in galvanised steel as are the manifolds. The discharge manifold is set-up to gather any two vertical type membrane reservoirs. Two pressure switches, the electric control panel and a pressure gauge are mounted on it. On suction, each electric pump has

an isolating valve and a non-return valve, with the possibility of connection to an air supply unit and has another isolating valve in discharge mode.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

The HERTZ TWIN control panel is an automatic control and protection system for two centrifugal pumps equipped with three phase induction motor. The control panel power supply can be three phase or single phase. The HERTZ TWIN control panels include a pump control software and allow regulation of motor speed via an electronic frequency changer (Inverter) that powers the pump motor. On varying the rotation speed, the pump performance varies in terms of flow rate and head, allowing optimal use in every condition and saving energy.
